RMC Christmas Stocking, A Family Keepsake

RMC Christmas Stocking, A Family Keepsake

December 20, 2024 in Auxiliary, News, OB

It has been a long-standing tradition for the Regional Medical Center (RMC) Auxiliary to donate “My First Christmas” stockings to the OB Department as gifts for families who deliver their newborns within the month of December.

40 years ago, Liz Olsem delivered her baby boy right here in Manchester at RMC. She received a Christmas stocking to celebrate her December delivery. Since that day, the stocking has served as a special keepsake in the Olsem family. Over the years, Liz captured a series of photos of her son Ryan in that same Christmas stocking. When Ryan welcomed his own son during the month of December, this special stocking was passed down to him.

“Although we always hope these stockings will be a special gift for the families delivering at RMC, I’m not sure we could have dreamed of the impact this gift would have,” shared Charlotte Emerson, RMC Auxiliary President. “It warms our hearts to know a family has kept their Christmas stocking for so many years.”

On behalf of Regional Medical Center and the Auxiliary, we thank Liz for choosing us to deliver her baby boy so many years ago. It is our honor to be a small part of the Olsem family and their Christmas stocking keepsake.
